[AMONGST WOLVES]

i can feel them
they are watching me
sinking their eyes into me like teeth
watching my every move
thinking they'll have me
swift as the wind silent as a whisper
eyes piercing like thistles
i ignore and continue to eat
even though their eyes are getting closer to me
terrifying faces and frightening grins
are turned upside down and lost in the wind
they spring forward with no warning
and i without a seconds delay
flapped my wings and flew away
