Oh, a tale is told,

Once was lad,

Who thought he was bad,

Who walked all around,

And looked for a sound.

He looked and looked,

And he walked and walked,

And he talked and talked,

And looked all around

And OH what he found!

Running down to the stream,

It must be a dream!

A tambourine in his hand?

He was about to land!



So, you are not bad.

You are just a rat.

In a colorful hat,

Floating down the stream,

In a tambourine.



What a life!

What a way to live,

Nothing to give,

Just floating along,

Singing a song.



The lad watched.

As the rat floated away.

The lad now done for the day.

What a strange little rat, said he.

That I was to catch for a fee.



Said he, to no one at all.

I am glad the rat got away.

The one I was to catch today.

He bothers no one at all.

Oh, no I think He may fall.



Hey watch out!

Look up ahead,

Something to dread,

There’s a snake,

In the lake.



Look Out! Look Out!

You are just a rat.

In a colorful hat,

Floating down the stream,

In a tambourine.



Heading fast,

Into the lake,

With a hungry snake,

Looking for a treat,

And something to eat.



That's not what you wanted!

That's not what you meant!

That's not a good time spent!

Floating right into the lake.

With that hungry snake!



But look! Look at that!

He's not hungry at all!

He needs a friend to call.

He's lonely and scared!

And needs a friend who cared.



Could you be that friend?

Perhaps just a touch.

Just a friendly smile,

Or just hang around for awhile.
