the court update part 2

int. Watchers outer room

the lord of light and shadows storms into the room only to be confronted by a line of leather clad men with automatic rifles. the wall of the club closest to the doors has been reduced to rubble and dust, bodies lye scattered about, those who didn't die from the explosion have been shot. Leona stands behind the line of riflemen in a sunning purple dress. Trix and Charon are standing behind her trying not to be noticed. Leona smiles when she sees the lord of light and shadows.

LORD OF LIGHT AND SHADOWS

(outraged)

by what right!?

LEONA

you have kidnapped my surrogate daughter, i have come to reclaim her.

LORD OF LIGHT AND SHADOWS

you arrogant bastard. using an innocent as bait for your trap.

LEONA

whatever do you mean?

LORD OF LIGHT AND SHADOWS

Sonia is here by her own free will!

LEONA

is she?

Sonia steps out of the VIP room over the wreckage, and the bodies.

SONIA

i am.

Leona smiles and turns away from the lord of light and shadows. the riflemen immediately stand up in unison and lower there rifles.

LEONA

well then it is my mistake. come Sonia.

Sonia looks to the lord of light and shadows who gives her a faint nod.

LEONA

(sharply)

don't look to him for instructions.

Sonia begins walking towards Leona. Trix gives Sonia an apologetic look.

LEONA

come Sonia.

SONIA

(firmly)

no.

Leona slaps Sonia across the face.

LEONA

you will not defy me.

Sonia looks up at Leona angrily.

SONIA

you have no power over me.

LEONA

(coldly)

i think i do.

Leona grabs Sonia's arm and forces her to the ground Sonia grits her teeth and fights to get free but can't. Leona smiles and delicately rolls Sonia's sleeve down.

LEONA

you are mine. and i will have it no other way.

Leona's hand pulses with green light and Sonia screams. Sonia's flesh beings to ripple out from Leona's hand, but then settles back in place. Sonia stops screaming.

LEONA

don't defy me.

Sonia looks up at Leona with tears in her eyes.

SONIA

(defiantly)

i hate you.

Leona smiles and drags Sonia to her feet.

LEONA

bring her.

a soldier steps forward and grabs Sonia from behind. Sonia shakes him off and starts to follow after Leona defiantly, the soldier close behind. suddenly Sonia dashes into a side alley. Leona whirls around.

LEONA

(screaming to Trix and Charon)

go get her!

CHARON

yes m'lady.

TRIX

as you wish.

the lord of light and shadows smiles, and Leona whirls on him.

LEONA

(screaming)

You!

the lord of light and shadows blows her a kiss and disappears in a cloud of smoke. Leona screams in frustration.

ext. ally overcast day

Sonia is running as fast as she can. she gets a good distance down the ally before she notices Harlem leaning against the wall at the mouth of the ally.

HARLEM

hello, Sonia. a beautiful day of a jog wouldn't you agree?

Sonia stops running.

SONIA

(desperately)

help me.

Harlem smiles.

HARLEM

do you remember what it is about me that's so special?

SONIA

Harlem!

Harlem frowns and tisks his tongue.

SONIA

(agitatedly)

you don't have a court.

Harlem smiles again.

HARLEM

everyone has a court.

Trix and Charon are at the mouth of the alley running towards Sonia, Harlem nods his head to indicate them.

HARLEM

i wounder what court they owe allegiance to.

Sonia looks back at Trix and Charon, who are still a good distance away, and then to Harlem who winks. Sonia sighs and leans back against the other wall of the alley crossing her arms.

SONIA

it is a lovely day.

Trix and Charon stop running in front of Sonia. Charon looks at Trix who looks at Harlem.

TRIX

stop telling everyone every bloody secret we have Harlem.

HARLEM

(merrily)

i prepared a door.

Harlem pushes away from the wall and whirls his coat around distracting every one watching. he stops and indicates the section of wall he had been leaning against, which has changed to a red curtain.

HARLEM

and i haven't told her anything that she doesn't need to know.

Sonia

why are you helping us?

HARLEM

you already know.

Sonia shakes her head and steps through the curtain. Charon put his hand on Harlem's shoulder.

CHARON

is it really necessary to be so mysterious?

Harlem considers the question for a moment.

HARLEM

yes.

Charon and Harlem both smile and step through the curtain. Trix follows last.

int. noodle shop

Trix steps though the curtain and Harlem pulls it closed, every one is standing in a small noodle shop that appears to be somewhere in Asia. Harlem peeks out the curtain.

SONIA

are we in Japan?

HARLEM

china town actually, but you can't tell the difference from the noodles.

Harlem tosses open the curtain, the streets outside are bustling with traffic and pedestrians despite the fact that it's poring rain.

HARLEM

i though it was going to rain today.

SONIA

why are the courts at war?

Harlem looks at Sonia over his shoulder.

HARLEM

a breakdown in diplomacy.

Harlem walks over to a table and sits down a server comes over and speaks with him he holds up four fingers and says something in Japanese.

SONIA

what the hell dose a breakdown in diplomacy mean?

Trix and Charon sit down. Charon props feet up on a spare chair.

Sonia

and why the hell is it raining outside!

the server comes back with four bowls of noodles. Harlem & Charon immediately begin to eat. Trix begins to eat with a little more reservation.

HARLEM

(around a mouthful of noodles)

we lose time when going though a door, it's already...

Harlem pauses to look at the clock on the wall behind him.

HARLEM

seven o'clock.

Sonia sits down.

SONIA

i need to find a place to stay.

ext. Castle of light and shadows

the lord of light and shadows is walking across a barren wasteland, he's dressed differently from he was in watchers now he has a light cape that blows about him as he walks. the only things around him are dead and dying trees. the landscape is rough jagged outcroppings of tan rock and valleys occasionally lightning will spark across the purple sky. on the horizon a huge black castle can be seen. the castle is all points, it has innumerable towers, and has no obvious entry points, it gives off the feeling of a very evil place to live. the lord of light and shadows approaches the castle slowly. he pauses and looks up the castle towers far over him. he then looks at the wall and places his hand on the wall and closes his eyes. after a moment of concentration his eyes fly open. the wall in front of him begins to liquefy melting and running down once it touches the ground it is absorbed. the space forms an arced doorway which the lord of light and shadows steps though calmly.

INT. CASTLE OF LIGHT AND SHADOWS

the lord of light and shadows ascends a staircase into a simple room containing a chair and a table with a pitcher of water and an empty bowl. the lord of light and shadows walks over to the table and pours the water from the pitcher into the water, slowly. once the bowl is most of the way full he sits down in the chair and closes his eyes.

LORD OF LIGHT AND SHADOWS

(softly)

Sonia.

INT. NOODLE SHOP

Sonia and her party are sitting around when Sonia's bowl of noodles begins to vibrate. Sonia stops eating mid slurp and looks down into the bowl with a vague look of terror. she swallows the noodles.

SONIA

what the fuck was that?

the bowl vibrates again, harder this time. Sonia tosses down her chopsticks.

HARLEM

you have one incoming call.

Sonia looks up at him. he leans back and speaks to their waitresses as she walks past.

HARLEM

can we have a bowl of clean water please?

Sonia's bowl vibrates harder then ever. she grabs it and hold tight to it.

SONIA

(coldly)

what. the. fuck. is. happening!

the waitress returns with a bowl of water which she places by Harlem, he pushes it into the center of the table.

HARLEM

if you would.

SONIA

if i would what?

HARLEM

just blow on the bowl, that will accept the connection.

Sonia looks at him then rolls her eyes at him but leans forward and blows on the water in the bowl. the water ripples out from her breath but roll back and begin to show a picture of the lord of light and shadows. the lord of light and shadows smiles.

LORD OF LIGHT AND SHADOWS

my what high company you keep Sonia. not do you still have your bodyguards, but you seem to have dragged Harlem into this as well.

HARLEM

when things this big are afoot i find it to my advantage to involve myself.

LORD OF LIGHT AND SHADOWS

of course.

SONIA

what do you want?

LORD OF LIGHT AND SHADOWS

Sonia you know what's going on. your adoptive mother is using you as an excuse to attack me.

SONIA

i thought you to were at war? shouldn't you to be fighting?

CHARON

the courts are forbidden to war with one another without just cause.

SONIA

and I'm that cause?

LORD OF LIGHT AND SHADOWS

as i have said she cares nothing for the innocents who get hurt by her schemes.

the lord of light and shadows pauses.

LORD OF LIGHT AND SHADOWS

sadly i don't have time to answer all of your questions.

Sonia begins to take another bite of her noodles. the bowl vibrates, Sonia drops her chopsticks.

SONIA

fucking noodles!

LORD OF LIGHT AND SHADOWS

that will be Leona talk with her.

the lord of light and shadows disappears from the bowl.

SONIA

I'm not talking to her.

Sonia's bowl vibrates again, she grabs it close.

HARLEM

answer it.

SONIA

i won't. she can't make me do anything.

HARLEM

she's making you refuse her by calling. the lest you can do is find out what she wants.

Sonia roughly grabs the bowl from the center of the table and blows on it.

SONIA

what do you want.

LEONA

is that anyway to treat your mother?

SONIA

(angry)

you're not my mother.

Leona laughs.

LEONA

and your not my daughter, but you're still mine.

SONIA

what do you want?

LEONA

to warn you. your going to die soon.

SONIA

aren't we all.

Leona laughs again.

LEONA

but few can say as precisely when as you. you have three days.

SONIA

hardly.

LEONA

you remember that nice little shock back at the club? well it's got a nasty sting.

SONIA

you poisoned me?

Leona smiles.
