Childrens view of divorce, a rewrite of an old poem of mine. |
They did this to us! And they call us children! Oh, at one time we were Before all the fighting And hurting for sure We thought we had two great parents A loving man and wife Now we have nothing But heartache, fear, and strife Had we only seen it coming, If only we had known, Before our lives were shattered And our tears, and heartache grown And they call us children! So down on each other So hard and ever so mean We’ve lost all our childish faith We.ve lost our own family dream How could we prepare For this crushing pain, despair So sudden it enveloped us For us they showed no care And They call us Children Their folly just not right For nothing they did that day Was just Black or White It hurts, it’s almost funny They can’t even see the light To us both good and wonderful Truth clear as day and night Yes, both worth loving, both so great To our children's eyes so fine Our family it is broken, A sunder for all time And they call us children By their actions they show well So small , so petty. so heartless Taking us down into their Hell They're really just small children Fighting for us as their grand prize We wonder what ever happened To our parents loving and wise We’re stetched rope In the middle of this awful, endless fight They pull us both ways together Breaking To the left, to the right Forced to become young adults Dragged regardless of our age Wandering lost and lonely In this deep, unending cage Oh, yes they call us children We’re sad sorriful to say But They really are the children Since that drastic-dreadful day Yes, pity Our Children! |
