A poem inspired by my best friend and true love Chris.
Your smile haunts me as I lay,

Eyes open

Embracing the darkness of my room.

Your smile graces me in the dimmest of times

Lights my way when I need guidance.

It brings me forth from the darkest recesses of Hell,

And makes me see the love that I am offered…

And yet

I am lonely without you,

Beside me or not.

I am lonely without you,

And there is nothing I can say

Nothing I can do…

To win this battle.

I am not without strength to fight,

Nor the means to fight…

But I am without words.

Without influence over your heart.

Only you can decide the winner

Only you can place me -

Or her -

As the winner…

Your smile haunts me as I lay,

Eyes open

Embracing the darkness that surrounds me.
