When every evening star has gone
to sleep before the morning sun,
and every gentle bird begins
to fill our empty space on earth:
I hope that we will still be friends,
and bend like reeds upon the wind;
to ebb and flow as we both age
and know contentment every day.
And God wll surely look on us,
and place HIS heart inside our souls,
and know, that yes, we did our best,
as fishermen, to follow HIS request.
And when the sleep of that last evening star
begins it's journey to some far out place,
and every sparrow God designed,
as well begins it's final breath.
I hope that we shall still be friends,
and bend as reeds upon the wind,
to ebb and flow as we both age,
and find contentment all our days.
