I love you.
Don’t ever question my feelings for you,
While they might not be true,
At least I act as if they are.
At least I make you feel like you are wanted.
Why do you always insist on my being wrong?
Why do you always act like you know more about myself than I do?
Am I secretly slower than you?
Did someone lie in the beginning,
And my whole life has been no more than an illusion?
I’ll take this to the limit if that’s what it takes to push you to trust me just once.
I have never lied to you except for about this one small thing,
But how would you have known had I not told you,
I do not know.
Maybe I don’t love you today.
Maybe, just maybe, you are right.
What of it?
Is it not enough that I want to love you?
To take you to a place where you do not only feel alive,
But right.
I want to do for you what you do for me.
Not necessarily complete you,
Because you are too perfect to me to ever be viewed as incomplete.
No, not completeness; companionship.
Friendship. And if that is not love then tell me what is.
You should know I would take you there
Because I am almost sure you feel it too.
Perhaps that is more than everyday love.
I can honestly tell you that I have been looking for a comfort that I could never find.
Somewhere I could feel no shame, not simply unashamed,
Somewhere I could be different, be myself, with you.
To you I am honestly truthful.
I know that I trust you because I do not fear
What you will say in rebuttal,
Not because I don’t care what your beautiful lips will release,
Or what rolls off of your tongue and out of your throat,
But rather because I care what it is you have to say.
I believe what you are telling me is always genuine and never manipulative.
There is a trust comfort I feel so strongly between you and I.
We are beautiful.
If it is up to us to save the world,
I believe we can do it.
I want to be your knight in shining armor.
I want to rescue you every night.
Let me take you there.
It will be perfect with a happy ending.
