A kind of pain that lives forever
I don't believe
Time heals
All pain

A year, some months
Still punished
By embedded memories

Feeding the wound
Dissolving the scab
Unleashing fresh agony

Tortured
Pummeled by guilt
Stripped bare to face judgment

Defenseless
I have no protest
But wailing regret

Pouring from a heart
Swollen with the unspoken
Forced to dwell in silence

Forever
The days
You will be gone

Never to return
Not even once
To claim the words

I should have said
But only added
To my collection of bottled emotion

Finally reduced
To futility
Translated into torment

That leaps
Culminates
Subsides

A performance of misery
To exhaust
And soothe

The insatiable grief
That grapples with my sanity
And chides

My error
The silence
Of gratitude

For your goodness
