My magic touch.
I am a wonderful cook. I am one of those who can taste the casserole that everyone raved about at the potluck dinner, go home and make one that is identical. My husband even described one he had at work and I made it. But I can't bake worth a darn. Especially brown and serve dinner rolls. I burn them every time. Of course I would scrape the burned part off the bottom and serve them anyway. What would Thanksgiving be without hot dinner rolls and real butter? No one said anything, so I thought they didn't notice.

A couple years ago I went to spend Thanksgiving with my daughter. She lives in New Mexico and I live in Michigan so, I don't get there often. For that reason I had never met several of her friends who would be joining us for dinner. I was preparing my famous fruit salad and everyone was puttering around the kitchen. After I got done with the salad I asked what else I could do. I was eyeing the brown and serve dinner rolls on the counter. What happened next made me realize that my family all those years ago hadn't wanted to hurt Mom's feelings. One of her friends grabbed up the dinner rolls and said, "We were told not to let you touch the rolls until they were on the table."
