Poem about emotional abuse
Betrayal

How do you reach out when no one asked for help
When the line of communication is all too often yelled

How do you break the silence of all the secrets kept
Have we stumbled on the rug where all the problems were swept

Can you ever really prove that it wasn’t all their fault
Your well meaning words on open wounds only feel like salt

Do you speak up to the monster and try to back him down
Or will he make it hell whenever you’re not around

Is it wrong to sit in silence while all the lights go out
The brightness dimmed, because of him, they now know how to doubt

After being told time and again that you’re not worth a thing
You start to believe his lies while you treat him like a king

How do you break the cycle before the anger breeds
To remove the innocent hosts on which the anger feeds

Has it been too long to remember life before the monster came
The real crime is omission and you have only yourself to blame.
