A poem for a contest
I am a lonely scarecrow in the middle of the field.
Wondering what this day is finally going to yield.
I'm here in the land of Oz, a pole stuck up my behind.
Since I don't have a brain, I can't say that I mind.

I hear a girl with a dog, singing down the lane.
She's off to see the Wizard, maybe I can get a brain.
We continue down the road made of yellow stone,
Over on the side, there's a Tin Man all alone.

So we ask him what is wrong and he begins to start.
How happy he would be if he only had a heart.
" Why not come along with us and see the Wizard too,
Maybe if you're lucky he'll give a heart to you."

As we follow Dorothy and Toto her tiny dog.
We come across this Lion who seems to be agog.
We start walking toward him but as we were getting near.
He started crying and to shake from some inner fear.

" We're going to see the Wizard, why don't you come along,
Maybe he can give you courage and you can feel strong."
Happily we dance and sing down the road of yellow brick.
We didn't see the oil spill that made the road real slick.

That's when Dorothy's dog falls and Dorothy trips and flips,
The Lion then flies over her, and the Tin Man slips.
I've no brain so I don't stop and nearly break my neck.
We went off to see the Wizard but had a Toto wreck
