Poem for poetry class based off of Tamora Pierce's Trickster's Choice

Caught in a Lie
With a raise of a mocking eyebrow
She had a crooked smile now
You don’t believe me?
I’m wounded so deeply
Truly I’m hurt
I’m just as true and honest as dirt
He raised his brow to reply
Some advice my little spy
A little parrot you may be
With colors so flashy
Though you’re chances are narrow
Work harder to pass for a sparrow

Thinking of editing to:

Caught in a Lie

With a raise of a mocking brow
She had a crooked smile now
You don’t believe me?
I’m wounded so deeply
Truly I’m hurt
I’m just as true and honest as dirt
He raised his brow to reply
Some advice my little spy
A little parrot you may be
With colors showing brightly
Though you’re chances are narrow
Work harder to pass for a sparrow

REVISED:
Trickster

She felt the knife prick her neck,
with it came some new respect.
She hadn’t seen him palm the blade,
that’s how fast the move was made.
She didn’t even pause to frown:
“Will you press hard and cut down?”

“You are very calm you know,
You might be food for a crow.
You may be one with a crooked eye,
But even you could die.
So tell me now what’s so funny
I hope truth drips from your tongue like honey.”

With a raise of a mocking brow,
she had a crooked smile now.
“You don’t believe me?
I’m wounded so deeply.
Truly I’m hurt;
I’m just as true and honest as dirt.”

He raised his brow to reply,
“some advice my little spy:
a little parrot you may be,
with colors so flashy.
Though you’re chances are narrow;
work harder to pass for a sparrow.”
