I don't know, it's rather random.
I looked a man in the eye today, and told him he would die
Thinking I was crazy, man laughed and asked me why
I told him it was punishment for the deeds he’d known he’d done
Now reflecting on the past, I knew he’d try to run
So I caught him between the eyes, with a .38 revolver
And as he fell to the ground I saw a picture of his daughter
While disposing of the body I wonder if maybe I killed the wrong man
Misread directions lead me to this lost little lamb
Could my mistake be an end to this innocent’s life
No chance to say good-bye to his daughter, to his wife
Sent to kill a tyrant and find only a wandering soul
Maybe I was just looking for that kill to make me whole
And I wonder who’s the tyrant as I look down at my gun
Hoping for one clear thought, hoping it wasn’t all for fun
No time for confessions, just one letter and we’ll let it be
I’ll say my good-bye for him and good-bye to eternity
