I have learned through teaching
A MOTHER'S PRAYER

The time has come to release my children into the world so that they may fulfill their commitment to you and become that for which you have created them.

I have tried my best to prepare them for this difficult journey by fulfilling the promises I made to you when they were born.

When they were young I was there with a gentle kiss and warm smile to make their pain go away.

When they were frightened my soft words and gentle touch chased away their fears.

I taught them to be unselfish and to praise the goodness in others, and that an act of kindness will be remembered long after it is given.

I carried them over the tough spots and gently guided them towards the path of knowledge and understanding.

I have protected them with my shield of love and taught them that God will provide for their needs - one day at a time.

I have taught them to expect and share love, to accept adversity with patience, and to seek joy and happiness in the unlimited bounty of your wonderful creations.

I taught them to be gentle in mind but strong in spirit, to pray in silence and give in secret.

I showed them how to maintain self control with an inner calm when strife and turmoil seeks to pull them apart.

I have taught them to take responsibility for their actions - those they do and those they fail to do.

I have praised their good deeds and admonished their transgressions, and shown them that the measure of their love is the depth of their sacrifice - for others.

They have learned that their word is their bond, to have the courage to change those things that need changing, but to accept those things that need not be changed.

I have taught them to live in your Spirit and to walk in the Spirit, to cherish tradition but seek new thoughts, and that trust in the future sweetens the present.

I have taught them that the world is your home and we are but invited guests, and that they must protect and cherish the things in your home.

I have shown them that evil brings forth evil and that goodness brings forth goodness, but goodness will always triumph over evil.

I have taught them to seek no reward but to give quickly and generously, that pride goes before a fall, and laughter chases away the doubt.

I have told them to judge not least they be judged, to seek greatness but accept reward with humility, and that it is always better to give than to receive.

I was by their side to comfort them when they were ill and happily shared their joys when they were triumphant.

But most of all, I have taught them to love God and to respect and cherish all of your mighty creations.

I thank you for letting me have them and for putting your trust in me to guide them along their first path of life.

Being a good mother has been a very difficult job and I have learned through teaching.

I know that as they leave to fulfill their journey through life, that I have given all that I have to give, done all that I can do, taught all that I have to teach.

They know that my door and my heart will always be open to them when they need it.

As for my own mother, I thank you with all my heart for giving me such a wonderful protector, teacher, advisor, and friend, and I thank you God for being there for me, with me, and in me

Wait for me mom!
