A poem for my parents Pearl wedding anniversary |
30 years ago today, A proud father gave a girl away. While mother sat in nearby pew, And watched the couple say 'I do'. through nine years they had to wait, to fullfill their vow as mate then arrived a little girl, with radiant smile and golden curl. through all her years they spoiled her so, indulging her fancies that come and go. bringing her up in the way that was right, That she would become both good and bright. Children never know, or fully realise, Our parents, ever more worldy-wise, are often sacrificed for us, day by passing day showing how much they love us, in thier special way. But as time steadily passes on and on, Many years fleeting, so quickly gone. She grew up and learned, as children do. and realised how much they've seen her through. And now across many a mile, Her love flies to the banks of the Nile, To the special couple this card is for, Carrying all the thanks you deserve and more. Through all of life's tests, Through both sorrows and jests, The bond between you stayed strong, And on my part, And with all my heart, I wish that it lasts twice as long. ------------------------------------------------------- a poem for my parents 30th wedding anniversary, which they'll recieve on holiday in Egypt. I'd really like to know what everyone thinks as I haven't written poetry in a few years. I think there are meter problems x.x;; |
