last summer

Last summer was when it all began,
time slipped out from my hand and ran.

We once sat on the edge of the lake,
None of the smiles we gave were fake

Hand in hand together we would walk,
Neither giving a chance to talk

As our laughter filled the crisp, clean air
In cold blue water, feet were bare

We would squeeze in together
Our hands on top of each other

All we'd do sitting there was dream,
While we watched the blue flowing stream

We'd push each other and play around
Our voices were the music to our ears,
The only sound,
We'd hear

We had fun too much
Made each other blush
And left just too many memories...

Caught them on photographs
But couldn't catch the laughs,
That now echo inside my heart
Hurting it, tearing it apart

How I long to sit by the sea
Hand in hand, just you and me...
