last bit, fifth, sixth, and seventh hours of Olivia's allnighter. end of All Hours. R&R! |
Refreshment... -- “Oli, I’m gay.” At the last word all of my senses became ultra sensitive. I could see, hear, and even feel each gesture that Gabe made as he shifted uncomfortably waiting for my answer. My response made no sense to me or anyone else, and clearly was a sign that my subconscious was just mocking me. “What time is it?” Gabe’s look of stunned confusion matched my own. “Erm, around five.” He said quietly. “Well then okay.” I said. Then I started to laugh. Really hard. Five hours, six things. This was just gluttonous of me… quite the eventful all nighter. -- On with the conclusion... -- I calmed down after a couple of minutes and assured Gabe that I was fine with that. We started talking and began a heated debate on the level of attractive-ness of popular actors. (My personal favourite at the moment was Robert Pattinson, Gabe’s was Jackson Rathbone.) My phone buzzed at me. Instead of answering it I flipped it over my shoulder without a single glance. A minute later Christopher’s phone rang. The song ‘Imagine’ by John Lennon was the ring tone. That surprised me for a minute; Chris was fairly religious when he wasn’t smashed. He must’ve changed the song yesterday evening while he was smashed. I could hear Chris arguing with his phone for a minute, and then he handed it to me, his features hard with anger. “Hello?” I said tentatively. “Olivia?” “Yes…” I answered for what would hopefully be the final time today. “Could you come meet me somewhere?” The voice asked. I pulled on Christopher’s hand until his wristwatch was level with my face. It was six twelve. “I’ve got to be at work in an hour. Who is this?” I added. “Jaz. And it won’t take that long. I’m in downtown Lee’s Summit.” “Jasper, what are you doing downtown?” I asked. “And can I borrow a couple hundred bucks?” Jasper cut off my question. “Why?” I quizzed him. There was a pause on the phone. “I was arrested.” I groaned loudly but stood and headed toward my car. “I’ll be there in ten.” I said. “You owe me.” I nearly spat into the phone. Twenty minutes later I was sitting in the waiting room. I watched the minutes tick away as Jasper was conducted through all necessary procedures to make bail. I couldn’t help but think of what a great older brother I had. I glanced at the clock on the way out of the station. 7:13 A.M. Great, I thought. Now I’m late for work. -- The End -- How'd you like it? Review please!! |
