A light poem written for a coworker
Marlene
She’s a green eyed blond, who‘s not afraid to say
What everyone else is thinking on any given day
She‘s honest and forthright; even true blue
If you‘re good to her, she‘ll be good to you

She’s very smart too; her mind racing inside
Her radar picks up what you try to hide
She flits from topic to topic, could be hundreds in an hour,
Like a bumble bee buzzing from flower to flower

She has a big heart and is generous to a fault
Her gift giving and lending must come to a hault
If ever she wants to retire and be…
A happy woman living life leisurely

She’s poetry in motion never stopping to rest
Always lending a hand and giving her best.
Her “all” is what her family and friends can expect
When they ask for help, it’s on her you can bet.

She’s sometimes quite sad, let me tell you why
She misses her Bill; she doesn’t like to cry.
She gets lonely because he was her true love
I truly believe he’s watching from above.

Creative and quick with her wit and her mind,
She pretends to be hard, but she really is kind.
She would offer the shirt off her back to you….
Cuz’ there’s more where that came from..really it’s true

She’s a champion shopper, she knows a good deal
about hitting the racks and buying things for a steal
She’ll never pay retail it’s clearance sales in her dreams
The proof’s in her closets; their bursting at the seams

Her home is so warm and inviting
If you ring her bell she’ll let you right in
Rookie will be there happy to see you
Just like Marlene, he has energy too!

So everyone listen, I have something to say
Marlene is special in every way
Now that it’s out, the truth has been told
Everyone knows she has a heart made of gold!!
