Can darkness hurt you?

Darkness
Yes, the question in which haunts people’s minds everyday. Is it a feeling, a state of mind, or a place, in which you can never escape. Or is it just merely nothing, just shutting off a light?

Or is it something more?

It bears frightening thoughts of what could pop out in front of you. It bears surprises, it holds your fears and nightmares, and really makes the concept of you might just die here seem like the best thing that could happen. Or, perhaps, the most frightening accusation yet, maybe, it’s a monster. A monster which loves the fear it’s victims produce when he’s stalking them. A monster that plays around with the victim, who plays around with them emotionally. Maybe even physically.

Or, perhaps, its just darkness. Perhaps one of those questions, which can never be answered, thus, the only ones who can answer it, are the ones who experienced fear, in darkness.
