Grounded By Abuse

Some days, this bird
believes it will fly.

Amid others,
in society's sky.

Given opportunity,
control aside.

It parts wings
yet, does not soar.

Absent, of self-esteem
it descends, once more.

And, as it falls like moonlight,
over the darkened night.

Is left guessing!
