A letter to a fading mother
Dear Mommy,
I remember how you used to smile,
How bright your eyes once were.
The way your laugh sounded real,
And those tears were never there.
I remember when you used to eat,
And cook anything we wanted.
You used to be the life of the party,
Now you just seem dead to the world.
I remember when you'd be there,
Willing to listen to what i had to say.
But that was when it wasn't now,
And when you used to make my day.
It was before you started to take pills,
Before the therapy sessions thrice a week.
Before daddy and you had split,
Before you had started calling me a freak.
I miss the mommy that was always there,
When I was little to kiss my sores.
I miss the mommy that used to be happy,
The one that bought me candy from the store.
I love you all the same mommy,
i just wish you were the same as before,
The one i knew all my life.
Dear mommy,
I'm beginning to lose you...
