Letter to My Soul

Oh, dear soul of mine
Why are you so blase?
You claim to care for God
And yet you tend to stray

How do you dare this attitude?
Your nonchalant parade
You throw about these sinful acts
As though you have no shame

Oh, poor soul of mine
I do know how you ache
You cannot force your crooked smile
I see through your charade

Why don't you just descend now
From your throne of ugliness?
Shed the skin that's counterfeit
And share true happiness

Oh, good soul of mine
I know you do exist
For God can cure your malady
Through God you can resist

Heed my concern, my care for you
I wish not to see you perish
For in Christ alone lies Victory
In Christ only will you flourish
