A poem I wrote on a sabbatical religious experience, about NC and snow.
The words of the poem are unchanged and in their entirety, thanks for reading.

Authors note: The sabbatical experience I talk about refers to a 2 year voluntary religious mission to North Carolina. You've all seen the Mormons out there I'm sure.  We had a code of ethics to follow (always travel in two's, when to wake up, when to work etc) and knew we were under constant surveillance.  The proper terms we used for ourselves were "Elder" and "Sister", for men and women respectively so "Elder Jacob" refers to me. Also, "His Laboring Few" is a Christian fellowship, that minister to motorcyclists, and have quite a following on the east coast.  So they always say that "He (referring to Jesus Christ) would have ridden a Harley".  I hope this helps.

Snow Angels
by Nate Jacob

Snow falls, only to freeze in the night
making work that much harder.
sure, it's cold, and it will surely freeze me to the bone,
the humidity doesn't help much either.
I'll still track through it, trying to decide if snow angels
are appropriate for a servant of Jesus Christ
"His Laboring Few" say, "Christ would have ridden a Harley". . .
The gospel according to Elder Jacob says, Christ would have
made snow angels,
Here in the south, where snow is infrequent, the children don't take
snow for granted.
It's neat to see the kids sledding down what a 'Utah-n' would call a
poor excuse for a hill.
When you're little, your imagination can make it a mountain.
So, adults, with their see then believe mentality, escape the fun
they'd have, if only they'd "become as a little child"
When my children are playing in the snow, when to me it may
seem like a dusting,
I promise to make a big deal out of it. . . even if it means that I
call in sick.
Memories with parents who "become childish" make beautiful childhoods.
