For once,
I started to feel myself come back together.
Every second ticked by
As my limbs sewed themselves
And hardly bled.
My soul was set aright,
Though kept in an hourglass,
My heart missing its chords, strings, and warmth
Replaced by chains
That set me free.
Ebony and crimson seethed
And willed me against
What was the masquerade.
How foolish the dress was
It didn't fit
The masks only laughed with hollow voices,
Smiling cruelly with
Vivid intentions.
So, the curtains rose
And there it was only to be lost and never found.
The world stayed the same
And I changed within
A haunted stillness.
Then,
I became what I was,
And I am what I became.
