What makes a woman truly beautiful?
|
BEAUTY What is beauty? Is it that, Which only soothes the eye? Real beauty of the heart, The eye can never spy. Our eyes can only see the Beauty ephemeral. Fair eyes and a fair skin give Beauty that's temporal. Raiment and jewels, no doubt, Are very precious all. But they impart beauty to Even a pompous doll. Rather than outer beauty, Inner is important. Wit, intelligence, humor, Etiquette, refinement, Do fill the cup of beauty, But, yet only partial. The real beauty, in fact, Is the spiritual. Beauty lies in giving love, Though it be not returned. It lies in preserving grace, Even though love be spurned. Beauty lies in having faith, Being in love faithful. It's being contented, though, Of joy, life be not full. These and faith in Him do give To beauty, godliness. All these add true beauty to What is womanliness. • Written in abcb, 7-6-7-6 format • Initially posted as item 729905, deleted on 5 April 2005 and replaced by entry 339267 in MY POETRY BOOK, {item: 948400}.
