the title epitomizes a man in the throes with death with a terminal illness.
Randy Pausch

battle worn and weary no matter your approach of two score and a half years
whipsawed from sinusoidal mood swings akin or analogous to one afflicted
with bi-polar disorder whereby psychic state of existence
undergoes wild fluctuations from depth of despair
to height of ecstasy emotion doth veers
vain and valiant inspiration to fight back fearful tears
per impending mortality from pancreatic cancer
doth probably rents asunder and sears
and like some awful ogre a monster hideous sight upon thy conscience rears
which ghoulish haunting nightmarish image impossible to scare off with prayers
especially as doomsday clock strikes louder
in rhythmic syncopation to swing of grim reaper scythe
punctuating the eternal sentence whence finale thine last lecture nears
unleashing inaudible (only to thyself) howling teeth gnashing (super flashing) leers
which roaring din in close competition to booing spectators jeers
yet angst riddled soul and cry of anguish this unknown fellow
watched in my tortured, pained, grieved state your saga on oprah winfrey hears
whilst mine mental cogs and gears
wonders how one deals with confronting imminent deathly fears
no matter family, friends, loved ones and even this stranger dares
to speculate and wish to ask various and sundry questions
(similar to a mad scientist performing some electric kool aid acid beatnik test)
less to be intrusive, but moreso as a sensitive spirit who genuinely cares
possibly explaining the reason I compose this poem using modest airs!

i wrote this elegy after espying the text of said ordeal at borders bookstore
in the adjacent municipality of wynnewood, pennsylvania
  soon after entering the door
and oddly enough the written expose fell off the ledge and onto the floor
perhaps asking this bard of belmont hills to share sentiments less or more
with the intent ye will receive this letter before the first shovel of soil t'will pour!
