Drug addiction.
Snow is drowning my world
like I never truly existed.
The white powder of transgression is
Pinching my dreams and smothering all hope...

Last night I waited for you
I needed you to escape the cold of the snow
I wanted you to come home
yet, I prayed that you wouldn't

This morning you walked through our door
as if nothing was amiss
and I knew, of course,
that the snow had delayed your return.

My heart was heavy from the weight of the snow.
I changed my clothes, and ventured outside
seeking to smother the cold
with the heat of the summer sun.

The warmth of the sun awakened my
long resting soul and reminded me
of a love destroyed and intimacy forgotten
because of the allure and your addiction...to the snow
