A poem about love and betrayal
I was there
when you loved her
and you saw the light
in adoring eyes
Childlike and bright
innocently unseeing
the unspoken lies
the mountains of grief
love seeks to hide
I was there
when you gave her
the wings on her feet
(a benevolent lover
a malevolent thief)
I was there
when you promised
to cherish and love
and I watched
as she fell
a poor sad wounded dove
And I was there
when you left
and I felt her pain
wretched tears and regrets
but never again
I was there
when she saw
the lie in your eyes
confounded treachery
loud spoken lies
and I was there
  my love
when it all fell apart
there is nothing more to
say
you just
broke
my  heart.
