A Small Country With A Big Heart

There is nothing in this universe that can replenish the human spirit more completely than travelling. Every time we go away, whether across the ocean or across the street, we shed a part of ourselves behind. We come back a little more whole, a little more renewed, a little more awakened. Life takes on a different meaning the moment when we realize that there are simple, pure pleasures just from stepping outside of our comfort zone. My hope is that everyone and anyone who reads this can enjoy a moment of paradise wherever they are.

Nestled between the lush and fertile of South America and a chain of coastal Caribbean islands above, Grenada is a petite island with a geography so wondrous the country becomes infinite in one's eyes. As with most islands in the Caribbean, the diversity of the land is remarkable: Picturesque and quaint towns, luxuriant mountains and volcanoes, colourful traditional architecture and cultures, and charming waterfalls behind thick rainforests, rivers that lead to vast coastlines, abundance of wildlife and rolling hills that never end. Yet, in Grenada, there is something particularly special about it which adds a bit more character to a typical and already seemingly well known kind of West Indian glory. The aroma of nutmeg, cocoa, ginger and cinnamon that capture your senses in the early morning, the amiable nature of the locals and the environment(including a boiling springs made for a natural wishing well), the pretty and red-coloured roofs dotted along St. George's hills, or fishing villages on a cliff overlooking the sea and harbours are just a few of the fairy-tale like qualities that distincts itself beyond a Caribbean dream. People here seem to know how exactly to live life despite its ongoing hardships. They also know very well how to be in harmony with nature. It is true that the places which have seen the most poverty and destruction are the most socially, economically and geographically unspoiled locations on earth. It is because of that so this country, after battling the powerful hurricane Ivan in 2004 can still put on a smile on its face, withhold its true beauty and stand stong for the rest of the world to see. First world nation citizens have a few things to learn from them. Here are a few of the attractions in Grenada that would help you define this island to be a kind of heaven on earth:

Grand Etang Forest Reserve
Thanks to its natural history, Grenada which was born from a volcano, is now home to a mountain lake which fills the hole of an extinct crater. Like many national parks, you can birdwatch and speculate all kinds of wild and exotic tropical fauna and animals in their natural habitat. The diversity of its trees and flowers are as varied as the many elevations of the Reserve itself.

A Little Piece of Europe in the Caribbean
The fusion of French and African roots in its history books are seen and heard throughout the land. Each ethnicity that has contributed to this country's profile is still strong today. Traditional African costumes and attire are worn by the women in the country-side of the island. Both European and African folklore from ancestry still inherits the land.
