Again, this needs editing, but, I require an open mind.
Chapter 2
In a small town outside of a big city, sits a Catholic college where a five-foot six-inch young woman walked out from her speech class. She hurried toward the entrance doors where she jogged out with her black backpack toward the front parking lot. She tucked her shoulder-length hair behind her ear and flipped out her phone. She looked at the time to see that she was late to come home to feed the dog. As she spotted her car, her hand dug in her pocket to pull out her car keys to unlock it. She carefully opened the car door to avoid bumping into the other vehicle and tossed her backpack into the passenger side as she pulled up her pants and sat down to shut the door beside her. Before she started the car she called her good friend Kevin to ask him what was going on for the night. She giggled and said she was excited to see him after years of not being in high school and hanging out together. She told him she’d pick him up at seven and to take him out to dinner – her treat.
She carefully pulled out of her spot, and headed toward an intersection that lead to the highway. She sighed and there was a speed-limit sign which said “30” but the car in front of her was going about twenty. “God damn it Grandpa go faster I have shit to do,” she barked at the car in front of her. The car was in her lane as she turned onto the highway while the speed limit sign said “65.”
“Come on you old fuck!” She yelled and finally looked behind her before signaling to zoom past him, honking her horn and speeding away toward her exit that was five miles away according to a green highway sign. A semi-truck was coming up on her left and as she looked in her mirror her pupils dilated as she saw the semi start to turn into her. She quickly slammed her hand on the horn and the truck swerved the other way. She put one hand on her chest and she breathed heavily. As she slowed on the one-lane exit ramp a red blur appeared and when the young woman took a double-take a car behind her was driving at an incredible speed and tried to pass her. The van came in from the side, going faster and she gasped as her eyes widened. She saw the car come in close and a loud “clang” came in from the side and she turned to swerve, flying off of the ramp. She inhaled quickly, shutting her eyes and gripping the wheel, bracing herself for impact.
