An article on a great designer out of Boston. Myre
Wait, there’s fashion outside of New York?!? So our favorite out-of-town fashion correspondent, Noxema Jackson, got the lowdown on what Bostonian indies will be wearing next season. Proof that there is some style in the city that continually insists on wearing Red Sox. Wait, that’s the name of their baseball team? Okay, things are starting to make sense now. Check it out…

Trained in the art of fine couture at the School of Fashion Design Boston, Jess Meyer is a designer to be reckoned with and a talent to be shared with not just Boston, but by all you lovely Fashion Indie readers. Meyer is behind to very coveted, Myre, an indie label getting some serious recognition in this revolutionary city.
Not only are her designs urban chic, so is her studio.
All cuts and stitches are made in Myre’s South Boston studio in the first Gold Rated, LEED-Certified green building in the Boston area. Which really goes along with the overall tone of her creations, they, like her personality, are very bright and cheerful; full of sophistication. I also LOVE LOVE LOVE that all her pieces are “limited editions” which means you won’t find anything like them for long and that they are somewhat collectors item. I had been speaking with Meyer back and forth in email form for months so when the opportunity came up to attend her show… you know Noxema Jackson was all over that!

The location of this show couldn’t have been more perfect for this collection. It almost felt surreal how a rooftop garden was transformed into a very Zen like environment. It was lit by dimmed lighting which made the area so private and intimate, as it your were hanging out at a friends house instead of a fashion show. Over 400 fashionistas from the Boston area were in attendance and ready to party as the doors were open and everyone was let inside to enjoy the ALL YOU CAN DRINK complimentary bar.

I met some great people and one in particular Meyer’s neighbor Skie Schulte was very informative and gave me a tour of the fantastic locale. Schulte is the founder of The Martini Society, a group of Boston’s hippest professionals who come together for a very different bonding experience with events such as caviar sampling, wine tasting and fine dinners. This is a club you are going to want to be a part of.

Everything that went into this show was executed fabulously from the way the goodie bags were places along the stairs that led to the party, to the fact that all the clothes from the collection were placed all along the party grounds. Overall I must say that you should definitely keep in the lookout for this great creator because she’s totally got it.

Hooray to goodie bags.
Til the next time kids.
