One of the few poems I've written. I hope you enjoy it. |
A Love Poem I dreamt I were an endless river And you were never thirsty. I dreamt I were a great field of grain And you were always full. I dreamt I were an eternal flame And you were never cold. I dreamt I were an impenetrable fortress And you were always safe. I dreamt I were a fountain of youth And you never had to age. I dreamt I were a gold mind And you were always wealthy. -------------------------------------------- In dreamland, I became a vast ship, So you sailed across the seas. I became an omniscient map, So you always led the way. I became a limitless library, So you learned the secrets of the world. I became a great, golden crown, So the people bowed before you. I became a mighty sword, So you were always victorious. I became a blank canvas, So you dazzled the world with a masterpiece. -------------------------------------------- I dreamt I had the wings of an angel, So I lifted you gloriously to heaven. -------------------------------------------- But just then, the sun rose And brought with it harsh reality. Still, will you take my hand And let me love you? It's all I have to offer, Because I'm only me. |
