Why do the ones that matter never come back?
Yesterday, I sat at the edge of my bed
peering into my little heart-shaped mirror.
I shattered it just like a young man
shattered my own living beating heart
not quite so long ago.
I crush the broken mirror in my hand
and the blood that seeps from the wounds
combines with the glass
forming my very own crimson stardust.
I blow the stardust across the room
and make a secret wish.
Today, I sit here still alone
waiting desperately for him to come back.
