A Chance to See

I have no descriptions, no single metaphor
That could bring about your sum
I could use every word of every language
But it is simply not enough

I am unable to explain Your worth
I cannot clarify Your kind
I reach for a statement, a reason, a thought
But You are far beyond my mind

I can only ponder You for a moment
Before I am besieged
I am so lost to Your very presence
I simply fall upon my knees

How can Your power be so great
That my very heart will tremble?
How can it be that perfection itself
Is the beginning of what You resemble?

Will I ever grasp Your Holiness?
Is it even within my small reach?
I’m asking to feel the impossible
I am asking for a chance to just see
