Guardian

I stand before and endless tide
Of the beasts and monsters that may hide
I was there when a country was violently born
And stood by it as it’s people mourned
I stormed bloody beaches suppressing my fear
So you could hold your hopes and freedoms near
And as nature herself devoured the land
I reached out and gave you my hand
So pray that you never need me by your side
But if you do I will never leave you behind
And for all my sacrifices I make one plea
That you never forget and always remember me
