7th Grade Goals Essay

Dear Emily,

         “Bye! Have fun at your first day of school!” my mom yelled as I ran out the door. This year I plan to attain all “A's”, make the DRMS girls soccer team, and further develop my writing abilities. Although it may be a struggle to accomplish these goals, it is a road one must take to become a successful individual.
         First, I will strive to succeed my goal of making the all “A” honor roll this year. To start off, I will study independently for a minimum of thirty minutes before each test. I will pay close attention and try not to get distracted during class. I will make my notes neat and organized so they will positively effect my grades. Then, I will complete my homework each night regardless of my personal schedule. Therefore, I will most likely achieve my task of making the “A” honor roll.
         Furthermore, I dream of making the cut for the DRMS girls soccer team. To improve my endurance, I will run at least a mile on the trails behind my house approximately three to four times a week. I will try to get in the time to practice my scoring abilities by going to the DRMS soccer fields in my free time, and shooting on the goals. Lastly, I will improve my foot skills by using moves such as faking, and other moves to get around cones in my backyard whenever time is available. Therefore, this will increase my chance of getting on the school soccer team.
         Finally, I will put in a lot of effort to become a better writer. I will always proofread my papers and try to improve them by incorporating a larger vocabulary. Next, I will check my grammar and spelling to make sure I have not made any errors before turning it in. Afterwards, I will read over my paper to make sure my sentences make sense, and edit any mistakes. Therefore, I will score high on the  writing test and improve my writing skills.
         In conclusion, I plan to attain all “A's,” make the DRMS soccer team, and further develop myself as a writer. I sill strive to fulfill these goals to the fullest. As my teacher says, “Why set goals? Because if you're aiming for nowhere, that's just where you'll go!”
