Is it really love that hurts you?
There was a time when if someone would have told me that love hurts, I would have actually laughed.  How is it possible to claim that you feel the emotion of love and pain at the same time. Love is something that warms not only your heart but your soul and entire body. It enlightens your mind and brings your sense to new heights. How any of that could be described by the phrase of hurting? How could someone who feels all of that claim pain? Then one day, I realized what they meant. I felt what they were talking about. I could see what it was they saw. Love hurts.
Love itself is not the thing that hurts. It is you that hurts not only love but yourself. You claim things when in love, you claim to know the person to understand them but the truth is neither one really understand the other. You look into those brown eyes and say I love you. Making yourself believe that everything they say is a lie. You make yourself believe that they are the most horrible person because for some reason you won’t allow yourself to live free, and happy. No you must be hurt, you must be sad. Therefore you continue to believe they are up to no good. When they tell you they love you, you ask yourself if its true. If they really do love you. But why? What reason have you to doubt their love. Have they ever hurt you? Have they ever cheated, ever gave any reason once-so-ever to believe that he did not love you? No. Not once.
When he wants to go out with friends, why is it that you grit your teeth? Is it because you know that he will end up at a female’s house partaking in sexual relations? No. You know he wouldn’t do such a thing, not to you. Then why doesn’t that keep you from fighting him? Why do you still think up these elaborate ideas of drunk girls and drugs?
Why is it, every time he walks away your heart drops and you believe he will never come back? Is it because you think he has found someone better, or that he realized that he has realized how better his life would be without you? Perhaps. Perhaps, he would one day realize that he does not need you. That you are just too much for him to handle. Maybe on day your drama, all of your paranoia, all of your silly bickering would one day chase him away. Would make him not come home. Now you have reason to worry. This one could be true. This one you should worry about. Worry about your worrying.
All of these things, all of these non-existent problems are there because you put them there. All of these little things you worry about, that you turn into arguments, are the things that make love hurt. You are only hurting your relationship. Only hurting yourself.
