My heart pounds in my chest,
Relentless, it gives me no time to rest,
Trying to breathe to slow the sorrow,
With hope for a better tomorrow.
She has a stranglehold only spoke of in fables,
Weakening me with kindness, tryin to shake the tables,
My walls were built strong, and she holds the only hammer,
No longer guarded, no reason to restrain her.
Randomly pacing amongst her shadows,
Sinking in quicksand hidden within the meadows,
A fierce wind blows across the hills of my mind,
Leaving me deaf, weak, stupid, and blind.
Always waiting to obtain my second wind,
Walls start to crumble, my mortar has worn thin,
Once they have fallen, no reason to rebuild,
Her presence is welcome, the void needs filled.
