I Have a Dream

I dream that I am a minimalist.
I dream that I live in an apartment
with blank white walls; I dream that I am Zen,
that I hate men—
that I do all I can. I dream that I use all-natural shampoo,
that I don’t shop at malls, that I raise my fist
against those who just exist; I dream that I am pissed.

I dream I fight for resistance. I dream I take a stance.
I dream I stand up for animal rights, I lost
my voice I screamed so loud
I dream I fight!

I dream I know something about politics.
I dream I give a shit about politics. I dream I’m quick,
and slick, and opposed to being called a chick.
I dream I Have a Dream! I dream I care, I dream
I relish in peoples’ stares and
I wear dreadlocks in my hair. I dream
I swear I have a dream.
