This a short poem I wrote while on a cruise to the Carribean.
O’ Ocean great.  O’ Ocean deep.
O’ Ocean proud with waves that leap.
The moon looks down upon your face.
The stars dance ‘round with childlike grace.
If you could speak, or if you would,
If your roar was understood…

You’d tell the tales of days of old
When greatest men set sail.
In days gone by when men were bold,
And women shy and frail.

You’d tell of when you led the way
Across your treacherous sea
Into a land so far away
Where everyone is free.

You know of everything that’s passed
Across your rugged waves.
You knew the first. You’ll know the last.
When we lie in our graves.

And as I scan your ocean blue
Far as these eyes can see.
I wonder when life’s trip is through
What will you tell of me?
