An assignment for my composition class. Discription of a Human Scene Essay.
Cherry Wood shelves stand in rows all around me. With books in line from A to Z. Tables squat between each of the shelves, overflowing with Harry Potter themed merchandise. Every which way all I can see is people dressed in elaborate costumes, waving their wands and shouting spells at their friends. Little kids race through the sea of legs, their cloaks billowing behind them. As I get closer to the counter I can see boxes stacked five high and five across, with a green blanket thrown carelessly over them. People were leaning over the counter, with their cameras in hand, trying to snap a picture of the white boxes with elegant purple lettering.
I spot my friends Reyna and Linda, so I make my way through the crowd to them. Reyna’s dark brown hair falls just below her shoulders. Her chocolate brown eyes look at me from behind thin, horn rimmed glasses. Her tall thin figure is covered in a black cloak to match the themed book store. The smile that was currently gracing her face has been there since last week. It was as though happiness was being pushed out of her by an inflating balloon. Standing beside her, looking slightly bemused, is my best friend Linda. Her short brown hair framed her round face. Also with brown eyes, Linda looked around at the different costumes. Linda’s petite body was dressed in blue jeans and a cute black blouse with matching shoes.
“Ashley said it would help me blend in a little bit” Linda said as I walked up.
“What did I say,” I asked giving them both a hug.
“Reyna was just surprised that you let me borrow you Harry Potter shirt,” Linda replied.
“Are you completely excited,” Reyna asked me jumping up and down.
“I’m excited, and nervous, and extremely scared all at the same time,” I replied. “I think I might explode, what do you think is going to happen?”
“I think Snape will end up being a good guy,” Reyna replied.
“I know he’ll probably be good, but I desperately want him to be evil, I love to hate him!”
“No I want him to be good, do you think J.K. Rowling will kill Harry?”
“No! She Can’t! I would just die if she killed him! What would I do with the rest of my life?”
“Ok drama queen,” Reyna said as she sat down beside me laughing. “I think she might kill him, but I hope not.”
We all got quiet as a lady over the loud speaker announced, that it was only one minute until midnight, soon the countdown will start. The crowd gathered around a stage at the front of the store, with a microphone standing on it.
“Anything from the trolley dears,” said a voice behind us. We turned around and a cart laden with different snacks was being pushed by a plump lady in a pink cloak. We each grabbed a treat as the thirty second countdown began.

“9...8...7...6...5...4...3...2...1” The whole crow roared and raced to the front of the line.
At last, we were able to get the final Harry Potter book, the one some of us have been waiting for, for nearly 10 years. It was the last Harry Potter book release party ever.
