Just a simple poem.
I sat in my yard staring out into space,
when I realized that I had a smile upon my face.
I wondered to myself what I had to smile about,
It was a beautiful day, the sun was out.
The children played in the park across the street,
a scent of lilac wafted through the air, so sweet.
The melodic tone of a love song played in the background,
an angelic voice drowned out every other sound.
I thought of my life and the things that I have seen,
the people I've met and the places I've been.
And realized that I didn't lead a sheltered life,
and did not know the company of family or a wife.
But my life is my life and my space is my space
and that's probably why I have a smile on my face.
