A poem I wrote in early college for a class.
Drinking Salvation

He worships his escape,
empowering and enabling,
The first taste a relief,
escaping and enticing,
his dogma dictates and commands
attracting him irresistibly
Bubbles trickle, dancing on his tongue,
a ceremonial celebration.
Soothing the raw sores scaring his mind,
a testimonial believing.
He wanders to his fate with
hands bound and feet tied,
A faithful believer
with everlasting devotion.
The taste lingers in his soul,
angelic and peaceful.
The past a forgotten memory;
Drinking, salvation.
