Normal fight any teen has with themselves to be this quality of "Perfect"
Perfect, Perfect, Perfect
That's what they strive to be
But when they look in the mirror
That's the last thing they see
They hide behind their make-up
Some behind their hair
Some by how they talk
And others by what they wear
She strives to be the girl
Who gets all the guys
So talented and pretty
The girls with "Perfect Lives"
He strives to be that guy
Who's known by everyone
That guy that's looked up to
And never left alone
I was once one of them
I strived to be the best
Someone overly loved by some
And adored by all the rest
But then one day I realised
That's not the life to have
So now I've changed my ways
And now I'm more than glad
Because now I look in the mirror
And all I see is me
No, I still don't see perfect
But neither do I see a "wanna-be"
I can see a face
I can see personality
I can see an idea
I see a human being
I no longer see a mask
Of the stories I was telling
Or an outer shell
Of all the lies I was selling
I'll never be that perfect girl
Never better than the rest
But at least I'm not a fake
And that's my very best
They need to learn a lesson
And stop trying to be what they're not
Because in the end the lies won't matter
And the painful truth is all they've got
Those people will never be perfect
It's impossible to be
Perfect people are non-existent
That's something you need to see
And I refuse to change myself
I refuse to be anyone but me
