A Cascade poem written about the Crocodile. |
The Crocodile His unassuming verdant bulk sits in sun with ease; He fixes every passerby with cold and beady stare; The gaping mouth is lined with rows of sharp and pearly teeth; The Crocodile is not a fellow I would like to meet! Though common in the mud and also common on the land, The Crocodile prefers to sit where all is cool and calm. But time to time he gets a chill, so into heat he moves; His unassuming verdant bulk sits in sun with ease. The Crocodile is aware of his complete surroundings From the bird that passes overhead in skies cloudy but blue to the pesky little beetle-bugs that scutter on the ground, He fixes every passerby with cold and beady stare. But when he feels the need to fill up his grumbling stomach, The Crocodile is predator to creatures land and sea. He uses his gigantic jaw to snatch at what he wants - The gaping mouth is lined with rows of sharp and pointy teeth. Though he is a stately figure with his royal stare, And though he can move lightning-fast and snap with jaws so wide; And still he is the King of Beasts and Ruler of the Marsh, The Crocodile is not a fellow I would like to meet! |
