I won't claim credit for this poem. but it was too good to throw away!
Back in those old days of secondary school or High school or whatever you know it as, there was a workshop, and our class was invited to go to it to make up poems which could be rapped out. One girl wrote one about a depressed hamster. Afterwards that poem was chucked away and forgotten about. But, being the kind of person I am, I still remembered most of the stanzas, and thought it a shame how things could be conjured up then forgotten. I decided to post what I can remember of it on here. Since my memory isn't quite word perfect, I tweaked it here and there.

I claim no credit for this poem. All the credit goes to Laura Parsons from my old school, Mounts Bay Community Sports College. :)

I'm running in my hamster wheel,
Plastic. Shiny. Red.
I'm running in my hamster wheel
And wishing I were dead.

Stuck in this stupid hamster cage,
A prison I can't get out,
Cursed with a tiny hamster voice,
For no one can hear me shout.

They say I look depressed.
Well yes, because I am.
Wouldn't you be if they called you Fluffy,
When your real name was Sam?

I want to speak my feelings,
Let others know what I feel.
But there are no other hamsters,
Running on my hamster wheel.

I've contemplated suicide,
But I'm restricted, (lack of thumbs).
There are no hamster pills
Or little hamster guns.

Well, I know I'm getting old now,
My cheeks are starting to sag.
And I think that when I die,
I'll be shoved into a bag

And thrown in the garden
With all these other pets,
Which their caring loving owners
Failed to take to the vets.

I'm running in my hamster wheel,
This cycle never ends.
I'm running in my hamster wheel,
Alone, and without friends.
