The fact that I’m not a princess shouldn’t matter,
The fact that I don’t dress like the girl you like shouldn’t make a difference.
The fact that I’m not perfect shouldn’t mean you shouldn’t care,
I’m your kid and that should be enough.
Just because I don’t wear dresses doesn’t mean am not a girl,
Just because I want to skateboard instead of wear make up doesn’t make me a boy,
The fact that I’m not perfect shouldn’t mean you shouldn’t care.
I’m your kid and that should be enough.
Just because I’m not an A student doesn’t mean I didn’t try,
Just because I had my first kiss it doesn’t mean am a slut,
Just because my rooms is a mess it doesn’t mean am a pig.
The fact that I’m not perfect shouldn’t mean you shouldn’t care.
I’m your kid and that should be enough.
Just because I like to be with my friends doesn’t mean I hate you,
Just because I made one mistake doesn’t mean am irresponsible,
Just because I cry doesn’t mean I’m weak,
No, it only makes me human, it only shows I have feelings to,
I’m not weak I'm just a kid.
The fact that I’m not perfect shouldn’t mean you shouldn’t care.
I’m your kid and that should be enough.
Just because I watch cartoons doesn’t mean I don’t understand,
Just because I dress in black doesn’t mean am evil.
Just because I prefer to go to rowing instead of working with my mom doesn’t mean I don’t love her,
Just because I want my own life not want you want doesn’t mean I don’t have a future.
The fact that I’m not perfect shouldn’t mean you shouldn’t care.
I’m your kid and that should be enough.
Understand…
I feel pain…
I feel sadness…
I’m only human…
It’s only normal…
I’m not perfect,
I’ll make mistakes,
I’ll fall down but,
I’ll get back up, it’s not always easy but,
That’s why I have friends to make me smile, even if you don’t think so.
I’ll live my life my way not yours.
The fact that I’m not perfect shouldn’t mean you shouldn’t care.
I’m still your kid and that should be enough.
