Pendle Hill is in North East Lancashire in the UK.  The area  is renowned for the trials of the Lancashire
Witches in 1612.

Old Pendle



Old Pendle reigns majestic, high,
keeping his watch o’er history,
whence creatures from the deep dark sky
flew down to cast their plague o’er all the land.


Their secrets hidden deep within
the shadows cast from this great hill.
Their mortal souls as black as sin,
from acts and deeds no Godly soul condones.


Today he stands there so benign
and watches o’er a quieter scene.
The trials of 1612 consign’d
those felons to a deadly dance on high.


But watch ye all at Hallow’s Eve,
Don't listen to the midnight screams.
Unless in witchcraft you believe,
Tread softly lest you wake their slumbering.
