Author's reflections on Britney Spears

Britney has lost her boys. The celebrity blogs are filled with vile comments from people who have chosen to be her judge and jury. I imagine Britney devastated as she reads these, turning quickly to her coping mechanisms of escape which will ultimately destroy her. This is a young girl who needs the adoration of her fans to fill some basic need. She doesn't know how to survive without it. I doubt she's capable at this point of any semblance of rational thought so for others to expect her to act in such a way is unrealistic.
How can she possibly get the help she needs? Where can she go? Will Eric Clapton's idyllic island clinic on Antigua be the answer? I don't believe it will. When she tires of it she can just leave like she did before. Someone needs to step up to the plate and have her involuntarily committed to a hospital setting so she can stay long enough to get detoxified. I suppose that would have to be her parents, and I hope they have the courage to do this if necessary.
How horrible being famous is when one has personal problems blasted on every screen and paper in print. Those in the business obviously are compensated extremely well, but at what cost? Britney has essentially bought her own isolation with the riches that fame has provided her, making it literally impossible for anyone to help her. Money is a powerful tool and opens many doors, but sadly, it closes a few as well.
The prevalent theory about addictive behavior is that one has to hit "rock bottom" before one can recover. I'm afraid the only rock bottom available to Britney at this point is a final one.
