A poem written for a deceased friend.
I'm standing here,
Thinking of you.
It's been a year now
And we still feel blue.

Why did you leave us
On that cold September day?
Could you possibly have known
That we would mourn this way?

We miss you so much.
We're not sure what to do...
All anyone really knows
Is how much we miss you.

I know that you're in
A much better place.
But I'll never forget
Your handsome face.

I often wonder
If you can now see
That you meant a lot to everyone,
And you meant a lot to me.

I regret not getting to know you
As well as I could.
But if I could turn back time and change that,
I hope you know that I would.

We are all so sad,
Because you're no longer here.
But we will always
Hold your memory near.

Sometimes when I'm sad about you
I often sit and ponder.
I wonder if you are in Heaven,
If that's where you now wander.

But I know for sure
That's where you are,
For Heaven is so close -
It's really not far.

So I'm asking you this -
To watch over me,
Because I know you're an angel.
We always knew that's what you'd be.

I can now admit
That God picked the best flower.
And no matter how long
We'll remember you every minute of the hour.

And even though
We're so sad without you,
We know you're our guardian angel...
We know that God's watching over us.
And you are, too.
